At our last Monday morning assembly on April 12th, 2021, we had the honor of having Officer Chris and Officer Manny do a virtual presentation on what it's like to be a helicopter pilot in LAPD. Thank you to our ETK Teacher Mrs. Ramos for setting this up!

learning how to become a pilot is kind of depending on the learning ability of the recipient Nene the student so if you're a fast learner it could take a little bit sooner and if you need more time to learn more parts of bow Peter pilot may take a little bit longer but an everyday student it takes about eight months to a year to get those credentials or the qualifications that we have to have a private pilot and a commercial pilot an instrument-rated pilot me where we rely on the instrument panels of the cockpit to fly is it that you like most about your job that's a great question I get to ask that a lot of one of the things I love most about my job is I remember being a young policeman and I'll Patrol as officer Chris was talking about I needed help or any of us needed help when we heard the helicopter come in we'll have that feeling that everything was going to be okay and now here I know I have that same effect would I support and help the men and women on the ground and the community so what's the greatest part of my job is knowing that I give a sense of security and a sense of relief knowing that everything's going to be okay when I fly over the parole offices and help them out I have a question TV show about Kramer Chase's and it says that most police helicopters have thermal cameras amuse yourselves everyone mute yourselves please put in the chat and then cm have a chance to discuss with this control box right here right now it's on the date ice cream and it's nothing more than a regular camcorder or just like your phone your mom and dad's phone but when I flip the switch it sent it to infrared that if it was pissed dark out when you can see anything I would be able to see this on a camera now the shades of dark and gray are images that are called the lighter white images are what's hot so if you think about it when you take your temperature your 98 Degrees that's fairly warm compared to this helicopter over here so you would be showing a lot brighter if you're on cam over here these are all the instruments on my engine will my engine is good this is a temperature in my engine list of the speed of my engine this is how much power is put out in the engine and this is another form of temperature of the engine the oil pressure how many bolts and if pink stripe right here is how much fuel I have in there wow so that's almost like a car the car b car except being is when I learned how to drive I just don't have I didn't know anything about the engine what would become of the pilot everything about the exit mechanical work awesome play is that the person to whom you yourself boys and girls I don't wonder those who are you I know we probably did okay alright good job thank you Miss Ramos working our special guests that you boys and girls for coming we're little over our limit now so I'll be sure to report to class on time I believe it or not I think will be in this was a wonderful way to end our last assembly because we do so we starting Hybrid next week but thank you boys and girls thank you thank you have a good day thank you again miss Ramos awesome Power Rangers
